President Murmu Unveils ₹75 Coin on 75th Constitution Day

The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, along with Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled the ₹75 commemorative coin and a postage stamp to mark the 75th Anniversary of Constitution at the Central Hall of Samvidhān Sadan in New Delhi.

The event was attended by Speaker Shri Om Birla, Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, and other dignitaries. The tagline for the year-long celebrations is “Humara Samvidhan, Humara Swabhiman”.

In addition to the release of the commemorative coin and postage stamp, the event also featured the unveiling of two books titled “Making of the Constitution of India: A Glimpse” and “Making of the Constitution of India & Its Glorious Journey”. Furthermore, the Constitution of India was released in Sanskrit and Maithili, adding to the significance of the occasion.

Addressing the nation, President Smt. Droupadi Murmu emphasized that the strength of our constitutional ideals comes from the active participation of the Executive, Legislature, Judiciary, and all citizens. She highlighted the Fundamental Duties outlined in the Constitution, including protecting national unity and integrity, promoting social harmony, ensuring the dignity of women, safeguarding the environment, fostering scientific temper, preserving public property, and striving for greater achievements.

The President described the Constitution as a living and progressive document designed to adapt to changing times. She noted India’s achievements in social justice and inclusive development through the Constitution and its growing identity on the global stage. She acknowledged the role envisioned by the Constitution-makers for India in promoting international peace and security, a role the nation fulfills as a leading economy and a global friend.

Reflecting on nearly 75 years of constitutional progress, the President urged citizens to embody its ideals, fulfill their Fundamental Duties, and work towards building a developed India by 2047. She noted that ‘Samvidhan Divas’ celebrations have increased awareness among youth and stressed the importance of passing these lessons to future generations.

This release marked the 21st commemorative coin for the year 2024, minted by the India Government Mint, Kolkata. The bookings are expected to open soon on the India Government Mint's website and will be updated in the current and upcoming bookings section.
