PM Modi Unveils ₹350 Coin on Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur's 350th Martyrdom Day
The Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled a ₹350 commemorative coin and a postage stamp to mark Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur's 350th Martyrdom Day today, November 25, 2025, during a special programme in Kurukshetra, Haryana.
The event was attended by the Governor of Haryana, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, and the Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Nayab Singh Saini. Union Ministers Shri Manohar Lal, Shri Rao Inderjit Singh, and Shri Krishna Pal, along with other dignitaries, were also present.
Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister said the day marked a unique convergence of India’s spiritual heritage, noting that he visited Ayodhya in the morning and Kurukshetra in the afternoon to honour Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji on his 350th martyrdom day. He recalled the 2019 coincidence when the Supreme Court’s Ram Mandir verdict came on the same day he inaugurated the Kartarpur Corridor.
He highlighted the inauguration of the Panchajanya Memorial and said Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji upheld the highest ideals of truth, justice, and faith, sacrificing his life to protect humanity. He recalled Guru Sahib’s fearless resolve in the face of Mughal persecution and praised Bhai Jaita Ji’s valour in bringing the Guru’s sacred head to Anandpur Sahib. Guru Sahib’s supreme sacrifice, he said, is why he is remembered as Hind Di Chadar.
The Prime Minister noted that the government has celebrated major Sikh anniversaries as national festivals and strengthened several sacred sites, including completing the Kartarpur Corridor and enhancing Hemkund Sahib’s pilgrimage facilities. He also mentioned the dedication of the preserved ‘Joda Sahib’ of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji to Takht Sri Patna Sahib.
He urged society to fight drug addiction, drawing from Guru Sahib’s teachings that inspired entire communities to abandon intoxicants. He said Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s ideals embody India’s message of Sarbat da Bhala and should guide the nation’s progress. The Prime Minister concluded by noting that the widespread observance of the martyrdom day reflects the enduring relevance of the Gurus' teachings and extended his greetings to all.
This release marks the 33rd commemorative coin of the year 2025, minted by the India Government Mint, Mumbai. The bookings are expected to open soon on the India Government Mint's website and will be updated in the current and upcoming bookings section.
