2014 - Rs 2 Braille Pattern Coin

The Rs 2 new steel pattern coin from Mumbai Mint of 2014 with a very interesting design was found in different auctions. EXPT struck on the coin, that is the EXPT stamp is raised in relief and not incused. 

The new design being looked at to incorporate the Braille to make the coins visually impaired friendly.  The 6 dots is the Braille representation of number 2. There is too much of details with ą¤­ą¤¾ą¤°ą¤¤ and India getting repeated. For strike coins, this will lead to frequent die clogs and slow down as the design is mix of incuse and relief. This means the strike pressure needs to be quite high, again slowing down the strike rate. 

The coin is graded and slabbed by NGC as MS 65 and categorized as Extremely Rare as per the Marudhar Arts; Auction 28 (Lot No: 285).

Kolkata Mint Opens Bookings for Jain Acharya Vidyasagar Coins

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has commenced bookings for the ā‚¹100  commemorative coin  issued to mark the first Samadhi Divas of  Sant Shiromani Digambar Jainacharya Vidyasagar Mahamuniraj . The bookings are open from March 18, 2025, and it is subject to limited availability. The ā‚¹100 coin is currently issued only in the Proof Set, packaged in a Folder or Blister option. Additionally, the UNC Set with a Folder or Blister option and the Proof Set with an MDF or Wooden Box may be issued later.  Earlier, the Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, released the ā‚¹100 commemorative coin during his visit to Chandragiri, Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh, on February 6, 2025. The ā‚¹100 coin, included in the Proof Set and available in Folder/Blister packaging, is priced at ā‚¹3,698. Shri Amit Shah Releases Shrimad Buddhisagar Surishwarji's Coin

The Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, released a ā‚¹150 commemorative coin to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Shrimad Buddhisagar Surishwarji Maharaj at Auda Auditorium, Shela, Ahmedabad, on March 9, 2025. The event was held in the esteemed presence of 97-year-old Acharya Bhagwant Shrimad Manohar Kirti Sagar Surishwarji Maharaj and 90-year-old Acharya Bhagwant Shrimad Padma Sagar Surishwarji Maharaj.
