Mule Coins and Errors in UNC Sets of Hyderabad Mint

The Hyderabad mint has issued re-strikes of many commemorative coins in UNC sets in the recent times, it has found that there are many varieties, mules and errors which were made due to negligence. Some of them are listed below:

The initial issued re-strike coins of ₹25 doesn't have the Hyderabad (★) mint mark. The mint has rectified the error in later releases.

Two sets were released two lion variety with "₹" symbol and without "₹" symbol, the "₹" symbol is as mule.

Initially, the set was released with wrong description as "One Hundred Fifty Rupees" inside the set card instead of "One Hundred Rupees", but later was rectified with correct description. Both has the different lion varieties and initial coin is mule.

The coins of both individual small blister pack of Rs 2 and Rs 5 coins doesn't have the Hyderabad (★) mint mark.

Apart from Hyderabad Mint, the Kolkata Mint has issued the recent Proof ₹150 coin of Shrimad Vijay Vallabh Suri with wrong description as ₹125 in the booklet of the MDF Box Pack.

Earlier, the Mumbai Mint had issued a mule in the C. Subramaniam UNC set with different lion variety of ₹5 denomination.

Though collectors and dealers welcome the mules, the mint should take care about the error printing on packages, else it will add the negative effect over the quality and trust.

  1. I saw your video on Gur-ta - Gaddi, Hyderabad Mint set with ₹100 denomination (instead of Rupees 100). This one should be treated as 'Numismatic Error of the Millennium'. Can you please tell me, what will be the current market price of this set, if it is available anywhere. Thank you

    1. Thank you for watching the video. In my estimation, the price is around ₹50k, though some dealers are charging over ₹75k.
