PM Modi Releases ₹100 Coin on Shri Ram College of Commerce

The Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, released the ₹100 commemorative coin to mark the Centenary Year of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), University of Delhi, today, on September 5, 2026, during his participation at the college campus in New Delhi, coinciding with Teachers' Day.

The release ceremony was attended by the Union Minister of Education, Shri Pralhad Joshi; Shri Ajay S. Shriram, Chairman, SRCC Governing Body; Prof. Simrit Kaur, Principal, SRCC; Shri Rajat Sharma, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, India TV; and other distinguished guests.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister described the centenary as a historic occasion for both Shri Ram College of Commerce and India’s education sector. Paying tribute to founder Sir Shri Ram, Shri Modi said the institution’s 100-year journey had become an “ocean of achievements and inspirations,” evolving from its modest beginnings in Daryaganj into a renowned centre of learning that has shaped generations.

Highlighting the distinguished legacy of SRCC, he praised its alumni for making their mark across diverse fields and recalled his association with prominent alumni such as the late Shri Arun Jaitley and Shri Sanjeev Sanyal. He also reflected on his earlier 2013 address at the college and the lasting memories associated with it.

The Prime Minister outlined India’s transformation over the past decade, highlighting economic growth, infrastructure development, railway electrification, financial inclusion through Jan Dhan Yojana, and the growth of manufacturing and defence exports. He emphasised the achievements of Make in India, noting the rise in smartphone exports and domestic defence production.

Expressing confidence in India’s youth, Shri Modi called for an ambitious vision of a self-reliant and developed India, including leadership in agriculture exports, space technology and global business. He urged students to dream bigger, build globally competitive Indian companies and embrace innovation in areas such as artificial intelligence and drones.

Drawing inspiration from the SRCC crest, the Prime Minister compared the journey of the youth to a ship moving towards the guiding sun and called upon them to chart a new path towards a Viksit Bharat, with India’s own courage, dreams and achievements leading the way.

This release marks the 10th commemorative coin of the year 2026, minted by the India Government Mint, Hyderabad. The bookings for the Proof and UNC sets are expected to open soon on the official India Government Mint website and will be updated under the current and upcoming bookings section.
