Kolkata Mint Opens Bookings for National Sample Survey Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has opened the bookings for the ₹75  commemorative coin  issued to mark the 75 Years of National Sample Survey . The bookings are open from January 20, 2026, and it is subject to limited availability. Earlier, on June 29, 2025,  The Hon’ble Minister  Shri Rao Inderjit Singh unveiled the ₹75 commemorative coin and a Customized My Stamp to mark 75 years of the National Sample Survey while commemorating the 19th Statistics Day on June 29, 2025, at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. The Government of India will issue a ₹60  commemorative coin  to mark the  Diamond Jubilee (60 Years) of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited . The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on January 16, 2026, confirming this coin. The Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, unveiled a ₹100 coloured commemorative coin and a postage stamp to mark 100 years of Electrification in Indian Railways while he conferred the 70th Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar on selected railway personnel today, on January 9, 2026, at the India International Convention & Expo Centre (Yashobhoomi), Dwarka, New Delhi. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of State for Railways & Jal Shakti, Shri V. The year 2025 ended with record-breaking releases of commemorative coins , with the total number rising to 35 themes — the highest ever in the history of Republic India coinage. The year witnessed many unexpected themes, unique denominations, the introduction of colour coin, and a diverse range of metal compositions, including 15 coins struck in pure silver, 17 in the long-used silver alloy (quaternary alloy), and 3 in a newly introduced metal composition — nickel silver. Some of the major commemorations of the year included the issuance of unique denominations such as the ₹300 coin marking the 300th Birth Anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar , the ₹1000 coin celebrating 1000 years of the Naval Expedition of Emperor Rajendra Chola I , and the first-ever coloured coin with a ₹100 denomination marking the 10th Anniversary of Make in India .
