Kolkata Mint Starts Bookings for Make in India and Language Dept Coin Sets
The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has commenced the bookings for the commemorative coins issued on 10th Anniversary of Make in India and Official Language Department. The bookings are open from March 16, 2026, and it is subject to limited availability.
The first-ever coloured coin with ₹100 denomination was unveiled by the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal in New Delhi to mark a decade of the Make in India initiative on September 20, 2025.
The ₹50 coin was released to mark the Golden Jubilee of Official Language Department by the Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on June 26, 2025. The Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta; Shri Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Minister of State for Home Affairs; Smt. Sudha Murty, Member of Rajya Sabha; and Smt. Anshuli Arya, Secretary of the Department of Official Language, were among the distinguished attendees who graced the significant occasion.
Both the ₹100 and ₹50 coins are currently issued in Proof Sets, packaged in a folder or blister pack. In addition, UNC Sets in a folder or blister pack, as well as Proof Sets housed in an MDF box, may be issued at a later date.
The ₹100 coin, issued to mark the 10th Anniversary of Make in India is priced at ₹8,618 for the Proof Set packaged in a folder or blister pack. This coin is struck in a silver alloy, composed of 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel, and 5% zinc.
The ₹50 coin, issued to mark Official Language Department, is priced at ₹16,623 for the Proof Set packaged in a folder or blister pack. The coin is composed of 99.9% pure silver and weighs 40 grams.
The above prices are subject to change due to the high volatility in silver prices, and the pricing by the India Government Mint, has been kept on the higher side accordingly.
These commemorative coin sets—particularly the one Make in India as it marks a historic milestone in the Republic of India’s coinage—the nation’s first-ever coloured coin. The coin sets can be purchased either at the mint premises or through the official website of the India Government Mint, with updates available in the current and upcoming bookings section.
