PM Modi Releases Shrimad Rajchandra Commemorative Coins

The Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, released the commemorative coin  to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Shrimad Rajchandraji  on June 29, 2017, at Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijay Rupani, was also present. Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi’s thoughts have the power to help address many of the challenges facing the world today. He emphasized the importance of staying connected with our history as a society. Recalling the contributions of Shrimad Rajchandraji on his 150th birth anniversary, Prime Minister Modi called for greater academic research into his life, philosophy and teachings. New Commemorative Coin: Shrimad Rajchandra

The Government of India will issue the  commemorative coin  with denominations of  ₹150 and ₹10  to mark  150th Birth Anniversary of Shrimad Rajchandra . The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on June 23, 2017, confirming this coin. Shrimad Rajchandra was a renowned Indian spiritual thinker, poet, philosopher and reformer whose teachings continue to inspire people across generations. Born in 1867, he was known for his profound knowledge of Jain philosophy and his emphasis on self-realisation, truth and spiritual awakening. He is also remembered for his close association with Mahatma Gandhi, whom he deeply influenced during Gandhi's formative years. Shrimad Rajchandra's writings and spiritual teachings remain an important part of India's philosophical and spiritual heritage. The metal composition of the ₹150 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc. The coin will weigh 35 grams and have a d...
