New Commemorative Coin: National Cadet Corps

The Government of India will be issuing a Rs 75 commemorative coin on occasion of 75 years of Raising of National Cadet Corps. The Ministry of Finance has issued the gazette notification today confirming the same.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces with its headquarters in New Delhi, India. It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis as a Tri-Services Organisation, comprising the Army, the Navy and the Air Force, engaged in developing the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens. The emblem of the NCC consists of 3 colours; red, dark blue and light blue. These colours represent the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force respectively. The 17 lotuses indicate the 17 directories of India

The metal composition of the coin will be Quaternary Alloy (50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel and 5% Zinc). The weight of the coin will be 35 grams and 44 mm in diameter with 200 serrations at the edge. The description of the coin is as below. 

Obverse:  The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed  below, flanked  with the  word “भारत” and  "INDIA" at right and left periphery of the coin with Rupee Symbol "₹” and denomination  value “75” in International Numerals below the Ashoka Lion Capital.

Reverse: This face of coin shall bear logo of National Cadet Corps in the centre of the coin. The  inscription "हीरक जयंती" in Devnagari script and "Diamond Jubilee" in English shall be written above the image of the logo. The inscription "राष्ट्रीय कैडेट कोर" in Devnagari script shall be written on the upper periphery and the inscription “National Cadet Corps" in English is depicted on the lower periphery of the coin. The year “1948” and “2023” in international numerals shall be written besides the left and right side of the logo.

The commemorative coin will be released mostly on 28th January 2023.
