President, VP and PM to Unveil ₹75 Coin on 75th Constitution Day
The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will attend a special event on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, to mark 75 years of the Constituent Assembly's adoption of the Constitution. A ₹75 commemorative coin and a postage stamp will be unveiled to mark the occasion.
The Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Kiren Rijiju announced that the event will be held in the historic Central Hall of Samvidhān Sadan, the old Parliament building, where the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution on November 26, 1949.
The 75th Anniversary of the Constitution marks a significant milestone in the nation’s democratic journey. Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhān Divas, is observed on November 26 each year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.
In addition to ₹75 coin and postal stamp, two books titled Making of the Constitution: A Glimpse and Making of the Constitution and its Glorious Journey will be released, along with a booklet dedicated to the illustrations in the Constitution. People in India and abroad will also join President Murmu in reading the Preamble to the Constitution, Shri Rijiju added.
The commemorative coin features the image of the upper portion of the Parliament building on the reverse side, adding to the list of coins that depict the Parliament. Below is a timeline of coins featuring Parliament imagery:
Old Parliament Building:
- 25 Years of Independence, 1972
- Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, 1991

This release will mark the 21st commemorative coin for the year 2024. This coin continues the tradition of celebrating India’s democratic legacy through Parliament-themed designs. However, it could have been even more impactful if it featured the Constitution Book, highlighting the foundational principles and key contributors to Indian democracy.
