Finance Minister Releases ₹150 Coin on Bombay Stock Exchange

The Hon’ble Minister of Finance, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, released the ₹150 commemorative coin to celebrate the 150 Years of Bombay Stock Exchange today, April 17, 2025 at Jio World Convention Centre, BKC, Mumbai.

The event was also graced by the presence of Shri Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Chairperson of SEBI; Shri Pankaj Choudhary, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance; and Shri Sundararaman Ramamurthy, MD & CEO of BSE, along with several other distinguished dignitaries from the financial and business sectors, making it a memorable occasion for all attendees.

Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman delivered a message to all stakeholders in the financial ecosystem. She urged market intermediaries and exchanges to innovate with purpose while always keeping the investor at the center. To investors, she encouraged staying informed, being patient, and believing in the long-term promise of disciplined wealth creation. She appealed to corporates to uphold transparency, strong governance, and a commitment to shareholder value. To regulators, she emphasized the need to remain proactive, agile, and responsive in a world defined by rapid change.

She further stated that India’s vision for its capital markets is not just about achieving scale, but about building markets that are inclusive, accessible, and resilient. The collective goal remains the financial empowerment of citizens across all geographies, genders, and income classes, enabling them to participate in and benefit from the nation’s financial growth. The story of India is not just about numbers, it is about trust, transformation, and the dreams of millions. The capital markets must continue to reflect the energy and ambition required to support the nation’s progress and inspire generations of wealth creators and investors.

This marks the 8th commemorative coin release for the year 2025, minted by the India Government Mint, Mumbai. The bookings for the coin are expected to open soon on the India Government Mint's website, with updates provided in the current and upcoming bookings section.
