PM Modi Unveiled ₹100 Coin on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)
The Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled the ₹100 commemorative coin along with a special postal stamp to mark the Centenary Celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on October 1, 2025, at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.
The occasion was graced by RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Chief Minister of Delhi Smt. Rekha Gupta.
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, addressed the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Extending greetings to citizens on the occasion of Navratri, Shri Modi noted that the day marked Maha Navami and the worship of Goddess Siddhidhatri. He added that tomorrow is Vijayadashami, the festival that eternally proclaims the values of Indian culture—victory of justice over injustice, truth over falsehood, and light over darkness. On such an auspicious occasion, he recalled, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was founded a hundred years ago—an event that he said was no coincidence, but rather the revival of an ancient tradition of national consciousness manifesting in new forms to meet the challenges of every era. In this age, he affirmed, the Sangh stands as a virtuous incarnation of that eternal national consciousness.
Highlighting that it is a privilege for the present generation of swayamsevaks to witness the centenary year of the RSS, the Prime Minister extended his best wishes to the countless volunteers dedicated to the resolve of national service. Paying tribute at the feet of the Sangh’s founder, Dr. K.B. Hedgewar, Shri Modi announced that to mark this historic milestone, the Government of India has released a special postage stamp and a commemorative coin. The ₹100 coin features the national emblem on one side and, on the other, a majestic image of Bharat Mata in Varad Mudra with a lion, being saluted by swayamsevaks. Shri Modi noted that this is possibly the first time in independent India’s history that the image of Bharat Mata has appeared on Indian coinage. He added that the coin also bears the Sangh’s guiding motto: “Rashtraya Swaha, Idam Rashtraya, Idam Na Mama.”
Underscoring the historical relevance of the commemorative postage stamp, the Prime Minister recalled the Republic Day parade of 1963, when RSS swayamsevaks had participated with great pride, marching in rhythm to patriotic tunes. He remarked that the stamp not only captures the memory of that historic moment but also symbolizes the unwavering dedication of swayamsevaks who continue to serve the nation and empower society. Extending heartfelt congratulations to the people of India, he said the release of these commemorative issues reflects both national pride and collective resolve.
Drawing a powerful parallel, Shri Modi compared the Sangh to a great river that nourishes and enriches countless lives as it flows, blessing the land, villages, and regions along its course. Similarly, he said, the Sangh has touched every domain of Indian society and every region of the nation—an outcome of its uninterrupted dedication and its powerful current of national service.
He further compared the RSS to a river that branches into multiple streams, each nourishing different regions. In the same way, the Sangh’s journey has given rise to various affiliated organizations engaged in diverse spheres—education, agriculture, social welfare, tribal upliftment, women’s empowerment, arts, sciences, and the labour sector. Despite this vast expansion, Shri Modi underlined, there has never been division among them. “Each stream, each organization working in diverse fields, shares a singular purpose and sentiment: Nation First,” he stressed.
“Since its inception, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has pursued a grand objective—nation building,” said the Prime Minister, emphasising that to fulfill this purpose, the Sangh adopted the path of individual development as the foundation for national development. To advance consistently on this path, it developed a disciplined working method—the daily and regular conduct of shakhas, which continue to serve as the core of the Sangh’s organizational strength.
This release marks the 23rd commemorative coin for the year 2025, minted by the India Government Mint, Kolkata. The bookings for the Proof and UNC sets are expected to open soon on the India Government Mint’s website and will be updated under the current and upcoming bookings section.
