New Commemorative Coin: Shri Ram College of Commerce

The Government of India will issue a ₹100 commemorative coin to mark the Centenary Year of Shri Ram College of Commerce. The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on April 28, 2026, confirming this coin.

Shri Ram College of Commerce, popularly known as SRCC, is one of India’s premier institutions for commerce and economics education. Established in 1926, it is a constituent college of University of Delhi and is renowned for its academic excellence and highly competitive admissions. The college has produced many distinguished alumni in business, public service, and academia. Located in Delhi, SRCC continues to be a symbol of quality education and leadership in India.

The metal composition of the ₹100 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc. The coin will weigh 35 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin's description is as follows.

Obverse: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “100” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol.

Reverse: This face of the coin shall bear the logo of Shri Ram College of Commerce on the upper part of the coin. To the right of the logo, the inscription “100” in international numerals shall be inscribed and the text “Years” in English shall be inscribed below it. The image of the building of Shri Ram College of Commerce shall be depicted on the lower part of the coin. The year “1926-2026” in international numerals shall be inscribed below the image. On the upper periphery of the coin, the inscription “श्री राम कॉलेज ऑफ कॉमर्स का शताब्दी वर्ष” shall be inscribed in Devanagari script. On the lower periphery of the coin, the inscription “Centenary Year of Shri Ram College of Commerce” shall be inscribed in English.

Earlier, on April 25, 2026, a delegation comprising members of the Governing Body of Shri Ram College of Commerce met the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. Shri Modi noted that this year marks the centenary of the institution, a significant milestone in its illustrious journey of academic excellence and nation-building. He praised the college’s long-standing contribution to higher education and its role in nurturing generations of leaders across diverse fields. He also unveiled the centenary logo and a commemorative stamp.

This commemorative coin honours Shri Ram College of Commerce for its century-long contribution to higher education and nation-building. Its legacy of academic excellence, leadership, and nurturing generations of distinguished students remains one of the most significant achievements in India’s educational journey, and the institution continues to be held in great respect across the country.
