PM Modi to Release ₹350 Coin on Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji

The Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, is set to release a commemorative coin in honour of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on January 13, 2019, at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi. 

The event, being held on the sacred occasion of the birth anniversary of the revered Sikh Guru, will be attended by a distinguished gathering that the Prime Minister will address, highlighting the significance of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s life, teachings, and enduring legacy.

Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Tenth Guru of the Sikhs, is remembered as a spiritual master, a fearless warrior, a poet, and a philosopher whose ideals continue to inspire millions across the world. His contributions extended far beyond religious leadership, shaping the cultural and moral fabric of India. He founded the Khalsa Panth in 1699, instilling the values of courage, equality, righteousness, and selfless service. His teachings preached the importance of justice and the defence of truth, while placing immense emphasis on the pursuit of knowledge.

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has on several occasions expressed deep reverence for Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He previously participated in the grand celebrations of the Guru’s 350th birth anniversary held in Patna on January 5, 2017, where he released a commemorative postage stamp in honour of the Guru. 

The release of this commemorative coin marks the first such issuance of 2019 and signifies the beginning of a year expected to see several important numismatic releases. The gesture demonstrates the Government of India’s continued efforts to honour the nation’s rich cultural, spiritual, and historical heritage.
