New Commemorative Coin: A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

The Government of India is reportedly planning to issue a ₹125 commemorative coin to mark the 125th Birth Anniversary of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). 

This proposed coin is expected to honor the spiritual luminary whose teachings have had a profound and lasting impact on both Indian and global culture.

Born Abhay Charan De and later known as Srila Prabhupada, he established ISKCON, popularly recognized as the "Hare Krishna Movement," which has played a pivotal role in spreading Vedic philosophy, devotional practices, and the principles of Krishna consciousness worldwide. Under his guidance, numerous temples, cultural programs, and educational initiatives were established, inspiring millions of followers across continents.

The commemorative coin is expected to feature a portrait of Srila Prabhupada, accompanied by inscriptions reflecting his spiritual legacy. Such a gesture not only celebrates his life and teachings but also acknowledges his immense contribution to preserving and promoting India’s spiritual and cultural heritage.

The year 2021 has been dedicated to celebrating ISKCON and its founder, with a variety of events organized globally. These include cultural festivals, seminars, educational competitions, temple inaugurations, and other initiatives that highlight the movement’s ongoing influence and its role in fostering spiritual learning and community engagement.

It is important to note that the official issuance of the commemorative coin will be subject to a gazette notification by the Ministry of Finance. Collectors, devotees, and enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting further updates on this coin, which promises to be a fitting tribute to one of India’s most revered spiritual leaders.

Kolkata Mint Commences Bookings for RSS Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has commenced the bookings for the ₹100  commemorative coin  issued to mark the 100 Years of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The bookings are open from October 7, 2025, and it is subject to limited availability. Earlier, on October 1, 2025, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled the commemorative coin along with a special postal stamp to mark the event at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The ₹100 coin is currently available in the Proof Set, packaged with a booklet pack. It remains to be seen whether the Mint will also issue the UNC Set with a booklet pack or the Proof Set with an MDF box.  The ₹100 coin is priced at ₹8,410 for the Proof Set, which comes packaged with a booklet pack.
