New Commemorative Coin: A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

The Government of India is reportedly considering the issuance of a ₹125 commemorative coin to mark the 125th Birth Anniversary of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of Iskcon.

Srila Abhay Charanaravinda Bhaktivedanta Swami, also known as Srila Prabhupada, born Abhay Charan De, was an influential Indian spiritual teacher and the founder-acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon), commonly recognized as the "Hare Krishna Movement."

The proposed commemorative coin is expected to feature the portrait of Srila Prabhupada, with accompanying text flanked around the image.

This commemorative gesture signifies the profound impact and enduring contributions of Swami Prabhupada to the spiritual and cultural heritage of India.

The entirety of 2021 is dedicated to celebrating Iskcon, with a multitude of worldwide events and activities planned, including cultural festivals, school contests, seminars, temple openings, and more.

It's important to note that the issuance of the commemorative coin is contingent upon the official gazette notification from the Ministry of Finance. Stay tuned for further updates on this commemorative coin, which pays homage to a revered spiritual leader.
