New Possible Coin: Central Bureau of Investigation
The Government of India is expected to issue a ₹60 commemorative coin in 2023 to mark the 60th anniversary of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Shri Ajay Agarwal, Director (Finance) of the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India (SPMCIL), hinted at the release of this coin during an interview at the World Money Fair, held from February 3rd to 5th, 2023, in Berlin, Germany. He also confirmed that a commemorative coin for the G20 Summit 2023 is scheduled for release in the last week of February 2023.
The CBI, India’s premier investigative agency, was established on 1st April 1963 through a resolution of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Initially tasked with investigating bribery and governmental corruption, the agency’s mandate was expanded in 1965 to cover violations of central laws, multi-state organized crime, international cases, and multi-agency investigations. Over the decades, the CBI has earned recognition for handling a broad spectrum of economic crimes, corruption cases, special crimes, and other high-profile investigations.
Additional details regarding the commemorative coin will be announced through an official gazette notification. Collectors and enthusiasts can refer to the possible coin release page, which has been updated for information and guidance.
