PM Modi Unveils ₹525 Coin in Honour of Saint Meera Bai

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled a commemorative coin of ₹525, along with a postage stamp, to mark the 525th Birth Anniversary of Saint Meera Bai during his participation in the ‘Sant Mirabai Janmotsav’ in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on 23rd November 2023. The program also marked the initiation of year-long programs in memory of Sant Mirabai.

Among the dignitaries present were Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adityanath, Governor of Uttar Pradesh Smt. Anandiben Patel, and Smt. Hema Malini, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister conveyed his joy and gratitude at being in Braj Bhoomi and among the people of Braj. He offered heartfelt tributes to the divine significance of the land and humbly bowed to Lord Krishna, Radha Rani, Mira Bai, and all the saints of Braj. The Prime Minister commended the dedicated efforts of Smt. Hema Malini as the Member of Parliament from Mathura, noting that she has wholeheartedly immersed herself in the devotion of Lord Krishna.

Reflecting on the occasion, the Prime Minister emphasized that the 525th birth anniversary of Sant Mirabai transcends a mere commemoration; it is "a celebration of the entire culture and tradition of love in India." He described it as a festivity of the profound thought that considers Nar and Narayan, Jeev and Shiv, devotee and the god as one.

First Look of the ₹525 Coin

This marks the first issuance of a ₹525 coin denomination in the history of Republic India Coinage, minted by the India Government Mint, Kolkata. This release signifies the issuance of the 15th commemorative coin for the year 2023.
