Inauguration of Monetary Museum at Raj Bhavan, Lucknow

The Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandiben Patel, along with Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath, inaugurated the Monetary Museum during the evening session at Raj Bhavan on August 15, 2024, in Lucknow.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya and Shri Brajesh Pathak, Chief Postmaster General Shri Sunil Kumar Rai, and Director General of Police Shri Prashant Kumar.

The Chief Minister expressed a strong interest in promoting the hobby of numismatics, recognizing its potential to advance the field and create new opportunities.

The Monetary Museum, showcasing a collection of coins and stamps that highlight India's monetary history, was set up by Shri Prem Pues Kumar, a renowned numismatist from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, who also served as the consultant for the project. Shri Prem Pues Kumar was present to explain the details of the coins and stamps on display to the dignitaries.

Shri Prem Pues Kumar is a well-known expert in coins, currency, and stamps. He holds degrees in Electronics and Communication Engineering, an MBA, an MA in Archaeology, Museology, and Numismatics, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Numismatics. Besides being the consultant for this Monetary Museum, he serves as the General Secretary of the Coin Collector's Club, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. He is also the National Coordinator of the Numismatic Society of India, Varanasi, BHU, and has authored books on numismatics, including "Checklist of British and Republic India Coinage" and "Hobby Encyclopedia." His personal library boasts over 2,500 books on coins and numismatics.

Shri Prem Pues Kumar also runs a YouTube channel, "Hobby Encyclopedia," dedicated to promoting coins, stamps, banknotes, and antiques. His significant contributions to promoting numismatic awareness and education in India have earned him recognition as one of the most authentic sources of information and guidance for hobby enthusiasts.
