Kolkata Mint Opens Bookings for Hindi Rajbhasha Coins

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has commenced bookings for the ₹75  commemorative coin  issued to mark the ' Diamond Jubilee Year of Official Language '. The bookings are open from September 14, 2024, and it is subject to limited availability. The ₹75 coin is available in both Proof and UNC sets, packaged in Folder/Blister options. Additionally, the Proof Set with an MDF or Wooden Box has been issued, providing collectors with more options for their collection. During the morning session today, the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, unveiled the ₹75 commemorative coin and postage stamp at the inaugural session of the Fourth Akhil Bhartiya Rajbhasha Sammelan, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The Proof Set is priced at ₹3,363, while the UNC set is priced at ₹3,085 for Folder/Blister package. The  MDF/Wooden Box should also be available soon. The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, unveiled the ₹75  commemorative coin  and postage stamp to mark the ' Diamond Jubilee Year of Official Language ' during the inaugural session of the Fourth Akhil Bhartiya Rajbhasha Sammelan today, September 14, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Shri Nityanand Rai, Minister of State, along with Smt. Anshuli Arya, Secretary of the Department of Official Language, and Dr. Minakshi Jolly, IAS, Joint Secretary of the Department of Official Language, were among the distinguished attendees who graced this significant occasion. Shri Amit Shah emphasized that there is no competition between Hindi and local languages, stating that Hindi is a friend to all regional languages. He noted that Hindi and local languages complement each other, and this relationship will be further strengthened through the Indian Languages Section. Home Minister to Unveil ₹75 Coin on Diamond Jubilee of Official Language

The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, will release a ₹75 commemorative coin to mark the ' Diamond Jubilee Year of Official Language ' during his address as the Chief Guest at the inaugural session of Fourth Akhil Bhartiya Rajbhasha Sammelan on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The Department of Official Language is organising the Fourth Akhil Bhartiya Rajbhasha Sammelan from September 14-15, 2024, as part of the Hindi Diwas celebration. On September 14, 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi as the official language, and since then, this day has been celebrated as Hindi Diwas. Article 351 of the Indian Constitution mandates the Union to promote the spread of Hindi and develop it as a medium of expression for India's composite culture. The bookings are open from September 12, 2024, and it is subject to limited availability. The ₹100 coin is available in both Proof and UNC sets, packaged in Folder/Blister options. Additionally, the Proof Set with an MDF or Wooden Box has been issued, providing collectors with more options for their collection. Earlier, on August 18, 2024, the Union Minister of Defence, Shri Rajnath Singh, along with the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Shri M. K. Stalin, released the ₹100 commemorative coin to celebrate the Birth Centenary of Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi at Kalaivanar Arangam, Wallajah Road, Chennai. The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on September 11, 2024, confirming this coin. India marks 75 years since Hindi was recognized as the Rajbhasha, the official language, of the nation. This milestone reflects the cultural and linguistic journey of a diverse country that embraced Hindi as a unifying force. The adoption of Hindi as the Rajbhasha was crucial in shaping India’s post-independence identity, promoting national unity while respecting its multilingual heritage. The  metal composition  of the ₹75 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc. The coin will weigh 35 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin's description is as follows.
