Home Minister to Release ₹100 Coin on Jain Acharya Vidyasagar

The Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, will release a ₹100 commemorative coin to mark the first Samadhi Divas of Sant Shiromani Digambar Jainacharya Vidyasagar Mahamuniraj during his visit to Chandragiri, Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh, on February 6, 2025. This historic release is a tribute to the revered Jain saint, recognizing his immense contributions to spirituality, education, and humanitarian causes.

The Pratham Samadhi Smriti Mahotsav, which started on February 1 and will continue until February 6, 2025, is a grand commemorative event honoring Acharya Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj’s spiritual legacy. The event is expected to attract thousands of devotees, scholars, and dignitaries, who will gather to participate in religious discourses, prayer ceremonies, cultural programs, and community service initiatives. The Mahotsav will serve as a moment of reflection, devotion, and inspiration, spreading Acharya Vidyasagar Ji’s message of compassion and ethical living.

The commemorative coin will symbolize his teachings and lifelong dedication to Jainism, non-violence, and self-discipline. A gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Finance on January 31, 2025, officially confirmed the release of this coin.

This release should mark the third commemorative coin for the year 2025, reportedly minted by the India Government Mint, Kolkata. Additionally, several more commemorative coin releases are expected this year, as outlined in the upcoming and possibility section.
