Mumbai Mint Commences Bookings for IMD Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Mumbai, has opened bookings for ₹150 commemorative coin issued to celebrate 150 Years of India Meteorological Department (IMD). The bookings began today, June 17, 2025, and are available in limited quantities.

Earlier, the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi unveiled a ₹150 commemorative coin and a postal stamp to celebrate 150 Years of India Meteorological Department (IMD), on January 14, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

The ₹150 commemorative coin is available in both Proof and UNC sets, presented in a Folder/Blister pack. Additionally, it is also offered in a Proof Set with an MDF box packaging option.

The Proof Set is priced at ₹7,325, and the UNC Set at ₹7,135, both offered in folder/blister packaging. The Proof Set with an MDF box is priced at ₹7,530.

This coin is meticulously crafted from pure silver (99.9%), weighing 40 grams, with a diameter of 44 mm and featuring 200 serrations along the edge.

Many collectors are eagerly looking forward to adding the IMD coin to their collection. However, the frequent release of new bookings—almost every week—has become overwhelming for those who strive to collect every set.

These coin sets can be purchased either at the Mint Premises or through the official website of the India Government Mint. For further details and updates, please refer to the "Current and Upcoming Bookings" section.
