Mumbai Mint Opens Bookings for Rajendra Chola I Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Mumbai, has opened the bookings for the ₹1000 commemorative coin issued to mark the 1000 Years of Naval Expedition of Emperor Rajendra Chola I. The bookings are open from August 26, 2025, and it is subject to limited availability.

Earlier, on July 27, 2025, the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled a ₹1000 commemorative coin during his visit to Gangaikonda Cholapuram in Ariyalur district. The event was attended by the Hon'ble Governor of Tamil Nadu, Shri R.N. Ravi, the Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. L. Murugan, along with other dignitaries.

The ₹1000 coin is currently available in the Proof Set, packaged with a folder or blister pack. Additionally, the UNC Set with a folder or blister pack, as well as the Proof Set with an MDF box, may be issued at a later date.

The ₹1000 coin is currently available in the Proof Set, packaged with a folder or blister pack, and is priced at ₹8,137. 

The coin is expertly struck in pure silver (99.9%), weighs 40 grams, has a diameter of 44 mm, and features 200 serrations on its edge—highlighting the mint's commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.

It is a welcome move by the India Government Mint that buyers are restricted to checking out only one quantity per order. This step ensures wider accessibility for genuine collectors, prevents bulk booking by dealers, and helps maintain fairness in distribution. Such measures encourage inclusivity within the numismatic community, allowing more enthusiasts to add the coin to their collections.

This commemorative coin, rooted in the historical significance of Emperor Rajendra Chola I and featuring an exceptional design, is expected to generate considerable interest among collectors and enthusiasts. 

These coin sets can be purchased either at the mint premises or through the official website of the India Government Mint, with updates available in the current and upcoming bookings section.

The UNC Set in Folder/Blister packaging is now open for booking at a price of ₹8,015, as listed on the Mint's official website on October 1, 2025.

The Proof Set with MDF packaging is priced at ₹9,102, as listed on the Mint's official website on October 6, 2025.

The Government of India will issue a ₹100  commemorative coin  to mark the Centenary Celebrations of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on September 30, 2025, confirming this coin. Earlier, on October 1, 2025, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled the commemorative coin along with a special postal stamp to mark the event at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The ₹100 coin is currently available in the Proof Set, packaged with a booklet pack.
