New Commemorative Coin: Sri Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji

The Government of India will issue a ₹108 commemorative coin to mark the 108th Birth Anniversary of Sri Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji. The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on August 18, 2025, confirming this coin.

Sri Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji was the 41st pontiff of the Shri Uttaradi Math, a revered institution in the Dvaita Vedanta tradition established by Shri Madhvacharya. He was deeply respected for his scholarship, devotion, and commitment to preserving and propagating the teachings of Madhva philosophy. Swamiji’s spiritual guidance and leadership strengthened the faith of countless devotees, and his life remains an inspiration for simplicity, discipline, and dedication to dharma.

The metal composition of the ₹108 coin will consist of Pure Silver (99.9%). The coin will weigh 40 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin's description is as follows.

Obverse: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “108” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol.

Reverse: This face of the coin shall bear the image of Shri Satyapramoda Teertha Swami Ji. The inscription “श्री सत्यप्रमोद तीर्थ स्वामी जी की 108वीं जयंती” shall be written in Devanagari script on the upper periphery of the coin and the inscription “108th Birth Anniversary of Sri SatyaPramoda Tirtha Swamiji” in English shall be written on the lower periphery of the coin. The inscription “Shri Uttaradi Matha” in English and the year “2025” in international numeral shall be written below the image of Shri Satyapramoda Teertha Sawmi Ji.

This commemorative coin will be a tribute to Sri Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji, the 41st pontiff of Shri Uttaradi Math, honoring his profound contributions to Dvaita Vedanta and his tireless efforts in preserving the teachings of Shri Madhvacharya. His life of devotion, scholarship, and service continues to inspire generations, reflecting the values of discipline, simplicity, and unwavering faith.
