Hyderabad Mint Lists ₹100 NTR Commemorative Coin Executive Set

The India Government Mint, Hyderabad has listed the executive set featuring the two ₹100 commemorative coins issued on Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. The bookings commenced on August 6, 2026, and the set is being offered in limited quantities.

Earlier, on August 28, 2023, the Hon'ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, released the ₹100 commemorative coin to mark the Birth Centennial Year of Shri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, popularly known as NTR, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.  The following day, on August 29, 2023, the India Government Mint, Hyderabad, opened bookings for the Proof and Uncirculated (UNC) coin sets in both folder and MDF packaging.

The executive set closely resembles the one released by the Hon'ble President of India, with only a few minor changes. The India Government Mint, Hyderabad, has priced the set, which contains two ₹100 commemorative coins, at ₹32,090.

These executive sets contain proof coins and are among the most exclusive presentation formats issued by the India Government Mints. They are primarily presented to dignitaries, chief guests, and other distinguished invitees during official coin release ceremonies. On rare occasions, a limited number of surplus sets are made available for sale through India Government Mint sales counters, making them considerably scarcer than the regular collector issues released in folders, MDF boxes, or other packaging formats.

However, the India Government Mints, continues to charge a substantial premium, largely attributed to the packaging. While there will always be collectors willing to purchase them regardless of the price, and these sets may eventually sell out, such demand is unlikely to be sustainable in the long run. The current pricing does not appear to be in line with prevailing silver prices.

India has taken another significant step towards the possible introduction of polymer banknotes with Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Private Limited (BRBNMPL) issuing a Global Expression of Interest (EOI) on July, 17 2026 for the manufacture and supply of opacified polymer substrate sheets with advanced security features. The initiative is aimed at identifying experienced domestic and international manufacturers capable of producing high-security polymer substrates suitable for printing Indian banknotes.
