Kolkata Mint Starts Bookings for Seva Teerth Pure Silver Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has opened bookings for the ₹100 commemorative coin issued in a Pure Silver variant to mark the Seva Teerth Complex. The bookings are open from October 31, 2026, and are subject to limited availability.

Earlier, on February 13, 2026, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the ₹100 commemorative coin along with a postal stamp during the formal inauguration of the Seva Teerth Complex in New Delhi. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several Union Ministers, including Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Shri Jitendra Singh, Minister of Finance Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Defence Shri Rajnath Singh, and Minister of Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, among others.

The ₹100 coin has been released in two variants—one in Pure Silver and the other in Nickel Silver (base metal). Earlier, the India Government Mint, Kolkata, opened bookings for the Proof Set of the Nickel Silver variant in a booklet package at an initial price of ₹1,984 on February 25, 2026.

Now, the Pure Silver variant in Proof Set has been issued in a booklet package at a price of ₹14,216.

Although collectors now have the flexibility to choose between the premium Pure Silver variant and the more affordable Nickel Silver (base metal) version for this theme, it is recommended that they include the Pure Silver variant in their collections as well, as it has been issued in limited quantities.

The decision to issue the same denomination in two different metal compositions may have been influenced by the recent volatility in silver prices over the past few months. Those who value intrinsic metal content may prefer the Pure Silver edition, whereas collectors primarily interested in the commemorative theme may opt for the base metal variant.

It is also worth noting that the India Government Mint, Kolkata, introduced the ‘K’ mint mark on its Proof coins beginning with this issue. This marked a significant development in Indian numismatics, as the distinct mint mark made identification easier and enabled collectors to clearly distinguish coins struck at the Kolkata Mint from those produced at other Indian mints. It is also worth noting that the Pure Silver variant of this theme bears an ‘Ag’ mark below the English inscription “BHAVA.”

This Proof coin set can be purchased either at the mint premises or through the official website of the India Government Mint, with updates available in the current and upcoming bookings section.
