Mumbai Mint Opens Bookings for Shrimad Sudhindra Thirtha Swamiji Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Mumbai, has opened the bookings for the ₹100 commemorative coin issued to mark the Birth Centenary of Shrimad Sudhindra Thirtha Swamiji. The bookings are open from October 31, 2026, and it is subject to limited availability.

Earlier in the day, the Mathadhipati of Shri Kashi Math Samsthan, H.H. Shrimad Samyamindra Thirtha Swamiji, unveiled the ₹100 commemorative coin at Shri Kashi Moola Math, Brahmaghat, Varanasi. The release ceremony was held during the Chaturmas Mahasabha, coinciding with the sacred occasion of the 25th Chaturmas Vratha of H.H. Shrimad Samyamindra Thirtha Swamiji. The event was organised at the initiative of Sri Sukrathindra Swami Seva Pratishthana, Mangaluru.

The ₹100 commemorative coin is currently available in a Proof Set in Booklet packaging at an initial issue price of ₹13,828, subject to revision in view of significant fluctuations in silver prices.

It is unfortunate that the India Government Mint, Mumbai, does not provide an outer cover for its booklet packaging. This creates confusion among collectors, as all booklet packages look alike, making it difficult to distinguish and identify individual issues. This concern has been brought to the attention of the marketing team of India Government Mint, Mumbai, on several occasions. However, no corrective action has been taken so far. In contrast, the Kolkata and Hyderabad Mints provide outer covers for their booklet packages, making identification easier for collectors.

Among recent issues, the India Government Mints have predominantly released commemorative coin sets only in Proof, with UNC sets not being made available.

These coin sets can be purchased either at the mint premises or through the official website of the India Government Mint, with updates available in the current and upcoming bookings section.
