2025 - 150 Years of Arya Samaj | Commemorative Coin

commemorative coin of ₹150 will be issued to mark the 150 Year Celebration of Arya Samaj. The Ministry of Finance has issued the gazette notification on October 30, 2025.

The Arya Samaj, founded by Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati in 1875, stands as one of the most influential reform movements in modern Indian history. Established with the aim of revitalizing the true spirit of Vedic knowledge, the organization sought to guide society back to the principles of truth, morality, and righteousness found in the ancient scriptures. Maharshi Dayanand believed that the Vedas were the ultimate source of wisdom and that India’s regeneration lay in rediscovering these eternal values. His motto, “Krinvanto Vishwam Aryam” — meaning “Make the world noble” — reflected the organization’s global and humanitarian outlook.

From its inception, the Arya Samaj worked to eradicate social evils that had taken root over centuries. It fought against caste discrimination, child marriage, idol worship, and superstitions that hindered the progress of society. It also strongly promoted women’s rights, emphasizing education for girls and the equality of all human beings. The Samaj established numerous schools and colleges under the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic (DAV) system, which combined modern education with the moral teachings of the Vedas. These institutions played a vital role in shaping enlightened citizens who contributed to India’s cultural and intellectual development.

The Arya Samaj also encouraged social and national consciousness at a time when India was under colonial rule. Its emphasis on self-reliance, truth, and fearlessness inspired many leaders of the freedom movement. By promoting unity, moral integrity, and education, the movement created a foundation for India’s social and spiritual awakening. Its followers engaged in humanitarian activities, disaster relief, and community service, continuing Maharshi Dayanand’s vision of serving humanity through righteous action.

Today, the Arya Samaj continues to uphold its founder’s ideals by promoting education, social reform, and the study of Vedic literature. Its influence extends beyond India, with branches across the world spreading the message of universal brotherhood and ethical living. The movement remains a beacon of truth, reminding society of the timeless relevance of Vedic wisdom and the need to live a life guided by knowledge, virtue, and service. Through its enduring efforts, the Arya Samaj continues to inspire generations to seek truth, reject superstition, and work for the betterment of humanity.
