2023 - Armed Forces Medical College | Commemorative Coin

The 17th commemorative coin for the year 2023 was released to mark the Platinum Jubilee of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune.

The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) stands as a premier medical institute in India, celebrated for its commitment to excellence in education and research. It provides comprehensive training for both undergraduate and postgraduate medical and nursing students, assuring promising career paths in the defense services.

Established on May 1, 1948, in accordance with the recommendations of the BC Roy Committee, the institute emerged from the amalgamation of various defense medical organizations. The inception of the "Graduate Wing" on August 4, 1962, aimed to ensure a steady supply of medical officers for the Indian Armed Forces.

Currently affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), AFMC conducts a range of undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses, contributing significantly to the healthcare landscape of the country.
