2024 - Dr. Harekrushna Mahtab | Commemorative Coin
The 20th commemorative coin for the year 2024 was released to mark the 125th Birth Anniversary of Utkal Keshari Dr. Harekrushna Mahtab.
Dr. Harekrushna Mahtab was a distinguished Indian freedom fighter, politician, and writer, often referred to as the "Utkal Gaurav" (Pride of Odisha). Born on November 21, 1899, in the town of Agarpada in Odisha, Mahtab played a pivotal role in the political and social development of the state. He was a prominent leader during the Indian independence movement and was deeply influenced by Mahatma Gandhi's principles of non-violence and self-reliance.
Mahtab’s contribution to the freedom struggle was significant; he actively participated in the Non-Cooperation Movement, the Civil Disobedience Movement, and the Quit India Movement.
