2028 - Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj | Commemorative Coin

A commemorative coin of ₹150 has been proposed to mark the 150th Prakat Din of Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj. The gazette notification is awaited from the Ministry of Finance.

Sant Gajanan Maharaj is one of the most revered saints of Maharashtra, remembered for his profound spirituality, simplicity, and unwavering message of devotion, selfless service, and compassion. Although little is known with certainty about his early life, his divine presence first came to public notice on February 23, 1878, when he appeared at Shegaon in present-day Buldhana district of Maharashtra. His extraordinary spiritual wisdom, detached way of life, and miraculous acts soon attracted countless devotees, establishing him as one of the most respected saints in the Bhakti tradition.

Sant Gajanan Maharaj lived as an ascetic, completely detached from worldly possessions and material comforts. Through his life and teachings, he encouraged people to cultivate humility, truthfulness, charity, and unwavering faith in God.
