2024 - Shrimad Buddhisagar Surishwarji Maharaj | Commemorative Coin
A commemorative coin of ₹150 will be issued to mark the the 150th Birth Anniversary of Jain Acharya Shrimad Buddhisagar Surishwarji Maharajji. The Ministry of Finance has issued the gazette notification on November 4, 2024.
Acharya Shrimad Buddhisagar Surishwarji Maharaj was a distinguished Jain monk and spiritual leader whose life and teachings profoundly influenced the Jain community and beyond. Born Bechardas Patel in 1874 to Shivabhai and Ambaben in Vijapur, North Gujarat, he studied until the sixth standard. His transformative journey began when he met Muni Ravisagar, a Jain monk, and became his disciple. In the early 20th century, he dedicated his life to the principles of Jainism, advocating for non-violence, truth, and compassion.
