PM Modi to Release ₹400 Coin on Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to partake in the celebrations of the 400th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at Red Fort in New Delhi on April 21, 2022, at approximately 9:15 PM. During the event, he will address the gathering and unveil a ₹400 commemorative coin and postage stamp to mark the occasion.

The program is focused on highlighting the teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru, renowned for sacrificing his life to defend religion and human values—an act that holds a significant place in world history. He was executed for supporting the religious freedom of Kashmiri Pandits on the orders of the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. His death anniversary is commemorated as Shaheedi Divas every year on November 24. Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib and Gurdwara Rakab Ganj in Delhi are intricately associated with his sacred sacrifice. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's legacy serves as a powerful unifying force for the nation.

Last year, the Ministry of Finance issued the gazette notification on April 29, 2021, officially confirming the release of the coin.

It needs to be seen whether the commemorative coin will be released alongside the stamps in a presentation pack. Previously, commemorative coins, along with stamps on the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the 550th Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, were released in a presentation pack by India Post.
