New Commemorative Coin: Shrimad Vijay Vallabh Suri

The Government of India will be issuing a Rs 150 commemorative coin on occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Yugvir Jainacharya Shrimad Vijay Vallabh Suri on 26th October 2022. The Ministry of Finance has issued the gazette notification today confirming the same.

Earlier on 16th November 2020, The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled ‘Statue of Peace’ to mark the 151st Birth Anniversary celebrations of Jainacharya Shree Vijay Vallabh Surishwer Ji Maharaj, via video conferencing. The Statue unveiled in the honour of the Jain acharya, has been named as ‘Statue of Peace’. 

The metal composition of the coin will be Quaternary Alloy (50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel and 5% Zinc). The weight of the coin will be 35 grams and 44 mm in diameter with 200 serrations at the edge. The description of the coin is as below. 

Obverse:  The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed  below, flanked  with the  word “भारत” and  "INDIA" at right and left periphery of the coin with Rupee Symbol "₹” and denomination  value “150” in International Numerals below the Ashoka Lion Capital.

Reverse: This face of coin shall bear the portrait of Shrimad Vijay Vallabh Suri in the center of the coin. The  inscription “युगवीर जैनाचार्य श्रीमद विजय वल्लभ सूरी की साध जन शताब्दी वर्ष” shall be written in Devanagari script on the upper periphery and the inscription “150th Birth Anniversary of Yugvir Jainacharya Shrimad Vijay Vallabh Suri” in English on the lower periphery of the coin. The year "1870" in international numeral beside left side and the year “2020” beside right side of the portrait of Shrimad Vijay Vallabh Suri shall be written.

The Minister of State for Culture, Shri Arjun Meghwal will be releasing the commemorative coin on 26th October 2022 at Vallabh Smarak Jain Mandir Tirth, New Delhi.
