FM to Unveil ₹100 Coin on Centenary Year of Karnataka Bank

The Union Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, is scheduled to visit Mangaluru on February 18, 2024, to participate in the 100th Foundation Day Celebrations of Karnataka Bank. The event will take place at the TMA Pai Convention Centre.

During her participation, the Finance Minister will unveil the ₹100 commemorative coin to celebrate the 'Centenary Year of Karnataka Bank.'

Additionally, the Finance Minister will address the audience with a talk on "Financial Services and their role in the Indian Economy" during this significant occasion. This insightful discussion is expected to shed light on the pivotal role of financial services in contributing to the growth and development of the Indian economy.

Karnataka Bank Limited was established on February 18, 1924, and officially commenced its operations on May 23, 1924. Founded in Mangaluru, a coastal town in the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, the bank has a rich history rooted in the vibrant financial landscape of the region.

The event will be joined by Attorney General Shri R. Venkataramani, Union Minister Shri Prahlad Joshi, Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri DK Shivakumar, and Speaker Shri U. T. Khader, among others.

The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on December 29, 2023, regarding the ₹100 denomination commemorative coin, as previously posted on this blog. Furthermore, there are other potential coin releases in the pipeline.
