New Possible Commemorative Coin: P. V. Narasimha Rao

A commemorative coin of ₹100 is likely to be issued to mark the Birth Centenary of former Prime Minister Late Shri P. V. Narasimha Rao, despite the Birth Centenary event occurring in 2021. The government's plans to issue a commemorative stamp to honor the former Prime Minister on his 100th birthday in June 2021 were thwarted when the stamps were leaked before their official release.

Today, the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, announced the issuance of the highest civilian award 'Bharat Rana' to former Prime Ministers Late Shri P. V. Narasimha Rao and Late Shri Chaudhary Charan Singh, along with Indian agronomist, agricultural scientist, and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Late Dr. M. S. Swaminathan.

It's worth noting that there might also be a ₹100 coin issued to mark the Birth Centenary of Dr. M. S. Swaminathan in 2025. Shri Charan Singh's 125th Birth Anniversary, and there is a possibility of a ₹125 coin being issued in the future, as it falls in 2027. However, no commemorative coins were issued in 2002.

Needless to mention, all three will be acknowledged with the highest honour, the Bharat Ratna award, and the government may not necessarily issue commemorative coins to honour their legacy.
