PM Modi Unveils ₹100 Coin Honoring Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee
The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi unveiled a ₹100 commemorative coin and a postal stamp celebrating the Birth Centenary of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25, 2024, at Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh.
In addition to Shri Modi, the event was attended by key dignitaries, including Governor Shri Mangubhai C. Patel, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Yadav, and several Union and State government ministers.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi described the occasion of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth centenary as a remarkably inspirational day and a festival of good governance and service. Remembering Shri Vajpayee, the Prime Minister highlighted how he mentored countless individuals, including himself, and noted that Shri Vajpayee's contributions to the nation’s development will remain indelible. Shri Modi announced the commencement of work on more than 1,100 Atal Gram Sushasan Sadan buildings, with the first installment of funds released, and highlighted their role in boosting village development.
Shri Modi emphasized that Good Governance Day is not a one-day affair, stating, “Good governance is the identity of our governments.” He thanked the people for granting the opportunity to serve for the third consecutive term at the center and continuously in Madhya Pradesh, attributing this trust to their commitment to governance. He urged intellectuals, analysts, and academicians to evaluate the nation’s progress 75 years after independence using development, welfare, and governance as benchmarks. The Prime Minister highlighted their government’s success in ensuring public welfare and developmental projects, aligning with the dreams of the nation’s freedom fighters.
The Prime Minister stressed that good governance requires not just creating schemes but ensuring effective implementation. He noted that the hallmark of good governance is when citizens can access their rights without navigating bureaucratic hurdles. He emphasized their policy of connecting 100% of beneficiaries with 100% of benefits, which distinguishes their government. He concluded by noting that the impact of their governance is evident, leading to repeated opportunities to serve.
This marks the 24th commemorative coin release for the year 2024, minted by the India Government Mint, Mumbai. The bookings are expected to open soon on the India Government Mint's website and will be updated in the current and upcoming bookings section.
