Finance Minister to Release ₹150 Coin on Bombay Stock Exchange

The Hon’ble Minister of Finance, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, is expected to release the ₹150 commemorative coin to celebrate the 150 Years of Bombay Stock Exchange on April 7, 2025 at Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), established in 1875, is Asia’s oldest stock exchange and one of the largest in the world. Headquartered in Mumbai, India, it serves as a key financial hub for trading equities, derivatives, currencies, and commodities. The BSE Sensex, its benchmark index, tracks the performance of 30 major companies across various sectors. Recognized globally, BSE provides a transparent and efficient platform for investors and plays a crucial role in India’s economic growth.

It would have been more fitting to celebrate this historic milestone at the iconic BSE Hall instead of the Jio World Convention Centre. For decades, the BSE Hall has been more than just a building, standing as a witness to India’s economic rise, market reforms, and historic financial moments.

Representative Image, Mint Design Varies

Earlier, The Ministry of Finance had issued a gazette notification on July 11, 2024, confirming this commemorative coin. The coin is reportedly minted by the India Government Mint, Mumbai. Apart from numismatists who may find this theme a valuable addition to their collection, stock market enthusiasts and traders might also be interested in procuring this coin as a symbolic representation of India's financial legacy. Additionally, several more commemorative coin releases are expected this year, as outlined in the upcoming and possibility section.
