PM Modi Releases ₹300 Coin on Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar

The Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, released a ₹300 commemorative coin and a postage stamp to mark the 300th Birth Anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar today, May 31, 2025, during his participation in the Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Mahila Sashaktikaran Mahasammelan held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Mohan Yadav, Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Mangubhai Patel, along with other ministers and distinguished dignitaries.

The Prime Minister also presented the National Devi Ahilyabai Award to a woman artist in recognition of her contributions to tribal, folk, and traditional arts. Following the unveiling of the commemorative coin and postage stamp, the Prime Minister inaugurated several development projects.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, calling her a symbol of strong will and determination. He praised her visionary leadership during a challenging era, highlighting her contributions to temple restoration, especially Kashi Vishwanath, and her efforts to empower the poor and marginalized. Shri Modi also lauded her initiatives in agriculture, water conservation, and textile development, including the promotion of Maheshwari sarees by inviting weavers from Junagadh. He expressed pride in serving Varanasi, a city shaped by her legacy, and working under India’s first tribal woman President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu.

This marks the 10th commemorative coin release for the year 2025, minted by the India Government Mint, Kolkata. This marks the first-ever coin with a ₹300 denomination in the history of Republic India coinage. The bookings for the coin are expected to open soon on the India Government Mint's website, with updates provided in the current and upcoming bookings section.

New Commemorative Coin: 300th Birth Anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar

The Government of India will issue a ₹300  commemorative coin  to mark the 300th Birth Anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar . The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on May 23, 2025, confirming this coin. Devi Ahilyabai Holkar was a legendary ruler of the Malwa kingdom, known for her exceptional administrative skills and deep sense of justice. She ruled from 1767 to 1795 and is widely respected for her efforts in promoting infrastructure, education, and religion. Her legacy lives on through the numerous temples, dharamshalas, and public works she commissioned across India, reflecting her devotion and visionary leadership. The  metal composition  of the ₹300 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc.
