New Commemorative Coin: Acharya Shri Vidyanand Ji Maharaj

The Government of India will issue a ₹100 commemorative coin to mark the Birth Centenary of Acharya Shri Vidyanand Ji Maharaj. The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on June 27, 2025, confirming this coin.

Shwetpichchacharya Acharya Shri Vidyanand Ji Muniraj was a revered Digambara Jain Acharya known for his profound scholarship, deep spirituality, and tireless dedication to Jain principles. Born in 1925 in Karnataka, he embraced ascetic life at a young age and went on to become one of the most respected Jain monks of modern times. His contributions to Jain philosophy, temple restoration, and religious education left a lasting impact on the community. He was honored with the title “Siddhant Chakravarti” for his mastery of Jain scriptures and remained a guiding light for countless followers throughout his life.

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Centenary Celebrations of Acharya Vidyanand Ji Maharaj on June 28, 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. On this occasion, he will also address the gathering. This sacred occasion will be graced by the presence of Rashtrasant Paramparacharya Shri Pragya Sagar Ji Muniraj.

The metal composition of the ₹100 coin will consist of Pure Silver (99.9%). The coin will weigh 40 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin's description is as follows.

Obverse: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “100” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol.

Reverse: This face of the coin shall feature the portrait of “Acharya Shri Vidyanand Ji Maharaj” at the centre. The year '1925' in international numerals shall be inscribed on the left side of the portrait, and the year '2025' shall be inscribed on the right side. On the upper periphery of the coin, the inscription “आचार्य श्री विद्यानन्द जी महाराज की जन्म शताब्दी” shall be written in Devanagari script, and the inscription “Birth Centenary of Acharya Shri Vidyanand Ji Maharaj” shall be inscribed in English on the bottom periphery of the coin.
