PM Modi Unveiled ₹100 Coin on Acharya Shri Vidyanand Ji Maharaj

The Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled the ₹100 commemorative coin and postal stamp to mark the Birth Centenary of Acharya Shri Vidyanand Ji Maharaj today, June 28, 2025, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

The programme marked the formal launch of a year-long national tribute, organised by the Government of India in collaboration with the Bhagwan Mahaveer Ahimsa Bharti Trust, to commemorate the 100th Birth Anniversary of Acharya Vidyanand Ji Maharaj, a revered Jain spiritual leader and visionary social reformer. The centenary celebrations included a series of cultural, literary, educational, and spiritual initiatives across the country, aimed at honouring his life, legacy, and timeless message.

The ceremony was graced by the august presence of Rashtrasant Paramparacharya Shri Pragya Sagar Ji Muniraj, and was also attended by the Minister of Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat; along with other ministers and distinguished dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering on this auspicious occasion, the Prime Minister remarked that the nation is witnessing a momentous event in India’s spiritual heritage, marking the centenary celebrations of Acharya Shri Vidyanand Ji Muniraj. He highlighted the profound sanctity of the moment, describing it as one imbued with the timeless inspiration of the revered Acharya, creating an extraordinary and uplifting atmosphere. The Prime Minister extended heartfelt greetings to all present and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the event.

Reflecting on the significance of the day, Shri Modi recalled that it was on June 28, 1987, that Acharya Shri Vidyanand Ji Muniraj was formally conferred the title of ‘Acharya’. He noted that this was not merely a designation, but the beginning of a sacred journey that connected Jain tradition with deep thought, discipline, and compassion. As the nation celebrates the centenary of Acharya Vidyanand Ji Muniraj, the Prime Minister underscored that the date also serves as a reminder of that historic moment. Paying his respects, he wished that all may continue to be blessed by the Acharya’s spiritual legacy.

“The centenary celebration of Shri Vidyanand Ji Muniraj is no ordinary occasion—it carries the memory of an era and reflects the life of a great ascetic,” the Prime Minister observed. Shri Modi especially acknowledged and saluted Acharya Shri Pragya Sagar Ji, under whose guidance millions of followers continue to walk the noble path shown by the revered Guru.

The Prime Minister also shared that he had been conferred the title of 'Dharm Chakravarti' on this occasion. Embracing it with humility, he said that Indian tradition teaches us to accept such honours from saints as blessings. In that spirit, he humbly accepted the title and dedicated it at the feet of Mother India.
