RBI Launches New Microsite for Banknotes

The Reserve Bank of India has announced the launch of a new microsite exclusively dedicated to Indian banknotes. The microsite is designed to serve as a one-stop platform for the public to explore, learn, and understand various aspects of the country’s currency in an interactive and user-friendly manner.

According to the RBI’s press release dated September 10, 2025, the new microsite provides the public with access to a wide range of resources on banknotes. These include a 360-degree view that allows detailed exploration of their design and layout. To further enhance understanding, the platform incorporates multimedia features such as videos, audio guides, and animations that explain security features in a simple and engaging way. In addition, the site offers interactive games, making the learning process more approachable for all age groups, especially students and young citizens.

A noteworthy feature highlighted in the RBI release is the dedicated section on banknote exchange. This segment offers guidance on how individuals can replace soiled, damaged, or withdrawn notes, thereby ensuring clarity and transparency in the exchange process. The availability of such structured information is expected to make the system more convenient and accessible to the public.

The microsite replaces the earlier portal, which for several years provided information on Indian banknotes. By migrating to a new, technologically upgraded and interactive platform, the Reserve Bank has reinforced its commitment to increasing financial awareness and ensuring that information about the design and security features of banknotes is easily available.

Through this initiative, the RBI seeks not only to spread awareness about recognizing genuine currency but also to strengthen trust in the financial system. As the press release notes, this digital resource embodies the central bank’s ongoing mission to empower the public with knowledge, safeguard confidence in India’s currency, and keep pace with the evolving digital landscape.

Kolkata Mint Commences Bookings for Ahilyabai Holkar Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has commenced the bookings for the ₹300  commemorative coin  issued to mark the  300th Birth Anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar . The bookings are open from September 9, 2025, and it is subject to limited availability.
