Over the decades, India has issued hundreds of commemorative coins across different denominations, metals, and finishes. What began as occasional releases, such as the FAO or Development series, has now evolved into continuous annual issues — with more than twenty themes released in recent years. Each of these comes in multiple variants such as Proof and Uncirculated (UNC), available in folder,...

India Govt Mint Enforces ‘One Order per Person’ Policy

Image
The India Government Mint has set new rules by implementing a one order per person policy on its official e-commerce portal. This move has been widely welcomed by collectors, as most of the recent bookings were reportedly being blocked by dealers who created a black market by purchasing large quantities and reselling them at inflated prices.  By introducing this restriction, the Mint aims to ensure that every genuine collector gets an equal opportunity to own the newly issued commemorative coins . It is now mandatory to furnish a PAN (Permanent Account Number) to buy coins on the India Government Mint’s online portal. On the earlier SPMCIL website, providing a PAN was compulsory, but after the platform was migrated to a new version a few years ago, this feature was not retained. The reintroduction of the PAN requirement is a positive step toward ensuring transparency and fairness in the ordering process. It will help the Mint verify the authenticity of buyers and prevent the misuse...
