PM Modi to Lead 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Patel at Statue of Unity

The Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, is set to lead the nationwide observance of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31, 2025, at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat’s Narmada Valley.

A ₹150 commemorative coin and a postal stamp will be unveiled on October 30, 2025, to mark this monumental event — a significant milestone in India’s journey toward unity and national integration — ahead of the nationwide observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.

The Statue of Unity, inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi in 2018, stands as the tallest statue in the world at 182 meters. It symbolizes Sardar Patel’s monumental contribution in uniting over 560 princely states into the Indian Union after independence. The statue is situated on Sadhu Bet, a river island located 3.5 km downstream of the Sardar Sarovar Dam, nestled between the Vindhyachal and Satpura mountain ranges.

This commemorative coin, symbolizing the Iron Man of India’s enduring legacy, is not only a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s monumental role in unifying the nation but also marks the second occasion on which a coin has been issued in his honour.

The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on September 30, 2025, officially confirming the release of the commemorative coin.

This issue will mark the 26th commemorative coin for the year 2025. Additionally, several more commemorative coin releases are expected this year, as outlined in the upcoming and possibility section.
