Kolkata Mint Opens Bookings for Another Batch of Restrike Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata has commenced bookings for several commemorative coin sets issued earlier on different occasions, now being offered as re-strikes. The bookings opened today, June 15, 2026, and are subject to limited availability.

These coin sets are being issued as restrikes in Proof Set with booklet packaging. However, all themes have been uniformly priced at ₹8,953, even though several issues, such as the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) commemorative coins, are struck in lower-specification quaternary alloys and measure only 39 mm in diameter with a weight of 22.5 grams.

It may be noted that the pricing for many of these commemorative themes appears to be on the higher side, as several of these first-strike sets are currently available in the secondary market at comparatively lower prices. Collectors who focus on varieties and minting differences may find these sets worth exploring, whereas they may be of limited relevance to those who collect strictly on a thematic basis.

Update:

The India Government Mint, Kolkata revised its listing terminology from “Restrike” to “Re-issue” within a few hours of opening the bookings. In numismatic terms, a restrike refers to a coin that is newly struck using the original design and dies after the original period of issue has ended. A re-issue, on the other hand, is a broader term that may refer either to a restruck coin or to previously struck, unsold stock being offered again, sometimes in new packaging or formats.

Mumbai Mint Begins Bookings for PMSMA Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Mumbai has started the bookings for the ₹75  commemorative coin issued to mark the 10 Years of Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) . The bookings are open from today, June 9, 2026, and are subject to limited availability. Earlier today, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, released the commemorative coin and a postage stamp to mark the occasion in New Delhi. The ₹75 coin is currently available in a Proof Set presented in a booklet package, priced at ₹1,700.  This ₹75 coin marks the fifth nickel silver commemorative coin issued and the first-ever ₹75 denomination struck in this base-metal composition. The Government of India will issue a ₹75  commemorative coin to mark the 1 0 years of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) . The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on June 8, 2026, confirming this coin.
