Mumbai Mint Lists Two More Earlier Coin Issues

The India Government Mint, Mumbai, has listed two more commemorative coins that were issued on earlier occasions. The bookings were opened today, June 22, 2026, and are subject to limited availability.

The ₹60 coin issued to mark 60 Years of Coir Board in 2014 and the ₹100 coin marking the Saint Alphonsa Birth Centenary in 2009 are now being offered as Proof Sets with booklets. Earlier, these themes were available only in folder or blister packaging and carried lower denominations.

The 60 Years of Coir Board Proof Set is priced at ₹11,876, while the Saint Alphonsa Birth Centenary Proof Set is priced at ₹12,943.

With these releases, the India Government Mint, Mumbai has effectively reissued older commemorative themes at significantly higher prices, a move many collectors consider an added burden, especially when silver prices have declined in recent times.

Although these sets have not been officially described as restrikes, they may feature minor variations and minting differences. Such distinctions could attract collectors interested in varieties and minting anomalies, while offering limited appeal to those who collect solely on a thematic basis.

Including these booklet-packaged issues, the Mumbai Mint has reissued 16 commemorative coin sets of earlier themes during the current year.

These commemorative coin sets are available exclusively through the official website of the India Government Mint. The Mumbai Mint Higher Denomination index has also been updated for reference.

Update:

The India Government Mint, Mumbai has also listed two more Proof Sets in booklet packaging: the ₹100 coin marking Mahatma Basaveshwara, priced at ₹13,960, and the ₹100 coin marking 100 Years of Civil Aviation in India, priced at ₹12,359, on June 26, 2026.

On June 27, 2026, the India Government Mint, Mumbai has listed three more Proof sets in booklet packaging: the ₹150 coin issued on Madan Mohan Malaviya at ₹12,409,  ₹100 coin issued on C. Subramaniam Birth Centenary at ₹12,493, and ₹100 coin issued on Indian Council of Medical Research at ₹12,409.

Further, on July 9, 2026, the India Government Mint, Mumbai has listed two more Proof sets in booklet packaging: the ₹100 coin issued on University of Mysore Centenary Celebrations at ₹10,762, ₹100 coin issued on 150th Birth Anniversary of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak at ₹12,896.
