1982 - Rs 2 Asian Games Experimental Coin

The Rs 2 commemorative coin is a 28 mm weighing 8.12 gms with security edge with the theme “IX Asian Games”. 

Identical to the commemorative circulation issued; however two horizontal lines with “EXP. and ”COIN” between them for “EXPERIMENTAL COIN” have been added to both obverse and reverse dies prior to striking. 

The 1982 commemorative 2 Rupees were minted only at Bombay and Calcutta. This experimental coin is said to be produced by the Heaton mint in order to gain approval. 

It was listed recently by KM Numismatics Auction 1, Lot 2 in February 2021 and was realised at 2100 USD.

Kolkata Mint Commences Bookings for BITS Pilani Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has commenced bookings for the ₹60  commemorative coin  issued to mark the  Diamond Jubilee of BITS Pilani . The bookings are open from April 16, 2025, and it is subject to limited availability. Earlier, the Shri Boman Irani, as the Chief Guest, released the ₹60 commemorative coin during the convocation ceremony of the 2025 graduating class of BITSoM – BITS School of Management – held on April 14, 2025, in Mumbai. The ₹60 coin is currently issued in the Proof Set and UNC Set packaged in either a Folder or Blister pack. Additionally, the Proof Set with an MDF box may be issued at a later date. The Government of India will be issuing a ₹100 commemorative coin  and postal stamp to mark the Birth Centenary of Dr. M. S. Swaminathan . Dr. M. S.
