1993 - Bio Diversity: World Food Day | Commemorative Coin

The 4th commemorative coin of 1993 was issued with the theme ‘Bio Diversity’ to mark World Food Day.

The observance of World Food Day in 1993 placed special emphasis on the theme of Bio-Diversity, highlighting the vital role of diverse plant, animal, and microbial life in ensuring food security and sustainable agriculture. Recognized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the day aimed to raise awareness about the critical link between biodiversity and the ability to produce nutritious and sufficient food for growing populations. Kolkata Mint Commences Bookings for RSS Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has commenced the bookings for the ₹100  commemorative coin  issued to mark the 100 Years of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The bookings are open from October 7, 2025, and it is subject to limited availability. Earlier, on October 1, 2025, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled the commemorative coin along with a special postal stamp to mark the event at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The ₹100 coin is currently available in the Proof Set, packaged with a booklet pack. It remains to be seen whether the Mint will also issue the UNC Set with a booklet pack or the Proof Set with an MDF box.  The ₹100 coin is priced at ₹8,410 for the Proof Set, which comes packaged with a booklet pack.
