2023 - National Defence Academy | Commemorative Coin

The 16th commemorative coin for the year 2023 was released to mark the Platinum Jubilee Celebration of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune.

The National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla, Pune, is the world's first tri-service academy, training cadets for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Established based on recommendations after World War II, the NDA has produced distinguished alumni, including service Chiefs of Staff.

Inaugurated on 16 January 1955, the NDA campus spans 7,015 acres, chosen for its strategic location near Pune, the Arabian Sea, and military establishments. The Sudan Block, honoring sacrifices in the East African campaign, serves as the administrative headquarters.

The NDA's robust infrastructure includes classrooms, labs, swimming pools, gymnasiums, sports fields, and more. The academic year comprises two terms, and cadets undergo six terms of training.

Celebrating its '75 Glorious Years,' the NDA hosts commemorative activities from 19 Jan 2023 to 16 Jan 2024. These events, including leadership seminars, hikes, expeditions, and sports meets, pay homage to the academy's founders and honor the contributions of its alumni in safeguarding the nation.
