2019 - Paramahansa Yogananda | Commemorative Coin
The 6th commemorative coin for the year 2019 was released to mark the 125th Birth Anniversary of Paramahansa Yogananda.
Paramahansa Yogananda (5 January 1893 – 7 March 1952), originally named Mukunda Lal Ghosh, was a revered Indian yogi and guru renowned for introducing millions, both in India and the West, to the transformative teachings of meditation and Kriya Yoga. His profound impact on spiritual seekers persists through the organizations he founded, namely the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India and Self-Realization Fellowship.
In 1946, Yogananda penned his seminal work, "Autobiography of a Yogi," a literary masterpiece that found its place among the "100 best spiritual books of the 20th Century," curated by HarperSan Francisco, a division of HarperCollins Publishers. This timeless autobiography, hailed as "the book that changed the lives of millions," continues to resonate across generations, with numerous reprints attesting to its enduring relevance.
