Govt to Issue Coins on M.G.Ramachandran and M.S.Subbulakshmi
The Government of India will be issuing ₹100 commemorative coins to mark the Birth Centenaries of AIADMK founder Dr. M.G Ramachandaran and renowned Carnatic singer M.S Subbulakshmi. The Ministry of Finance has issued the gazette notifications confirming the same on September 11, 2017.
Additionally, a new circulating ₹5 coin is expected to be released in honour of the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, along with a circulating ₹10 coin dedicated to the Bharat Ratna–winning singer. These coins will carry the same commemorative theme but will be issued for regular public circulation.
It is important to clarify that several media outlets and websites have circulated inaccurate information, leading to confusion among readers by implying that the ₹100 coin is a new circulating denomination. This is incorrect.
Please note that the ₹100 coins featuring Dr. M. G. Ramachandran and Dr. M. S. Subbulakshmi will be issued only as Non-Circulating coins through Proof and UNC Sets. The same designs will, however, be released as circulating commemorative coins in the lower denominations mentioned above.
Collectors and enthusiasts can access the complete list of commemorative coins and stay updated on current & upcoming bookings, along with potential new coin releases, to remain informed about future developments.
